FontmatrixFontmatrix
A font manager for graphic designers and typesetters who work with hundreds or thousands of fonts.
Fontmatrix keeps a large font collection in order. It activates and deactivates fonts and families for the other applications on your system, so only the fonts a job needs are in their menus. It runs on Linux and Windows.
What it does
- Activate and deactivate fonts for the other applications, for yourself or for every user of the computer.
- Tag fonts and group them into sets.
- Find fonts with simple or combined filters: tags, metadata, PANOSE classification, language coverage, licence, and font technology.
- Inspect a font in detail: glyphs, OpenType features, name and TrueType tables.
- Try out OpenType features in the playground, with HarfBuzz shaping and right-to-left scripts.
- Variable and colour fonts: move the axes of a variable font, and see CBDT, sbix, COLR and OpenType-SVG glyphs in colour.
- Compare the glyphs of several fonts on top of each other, useful for learning type design.
- Find duplicates: identical files, or the same font in files that differ.
- Produce font books as PDF, and extract the fonts embedded in a PDF file.
